Understanding the Benefits of Hypnosis for Reducing Anxiety and Quitting Smoking
Smoking is
addictive, especially tobacco smoking because any product containing tobacco
contains nicotine. When nicotine enters the blood vessels it stimulates adrenal
glands to secrete more ‘adrenaline’ or ‘epinephrine’. As you might have heard,
adrenaline is the ‘fight or flight’ hormone, it puts the body in an excited
state which eventually ends up increasing the amount of dopamine that is
reaching the brain. This state of ‘high’ is often addictive and hence smokers
keep on craving smoking. Thus, quit smoking
hypnosis is recommended.
Similarly, hypnotherapy for anxiety is also
effective. Unlike the depiction of hypnotherapy in movies, hypnosis is an
induced state of sleep of the mind but unlike sleep, the recipient is focussed
in his sub-conscious mind and can respond to suggestions of the
hypnotherapist.
Any individual who takes up smoking does it because of a
trigger. Be it peer pressure, stress or mental illness. A hypnotherapist is able to diagnose the rigger that could have played
the ‘influencer’ that lead to smoking. Once the hypnotherapist is aware of the
trigger, he uses quit smoking
hypnosis so as to positively influence
someone’s mind about the ill-effects of smoking so that the client becomes
averse to smoking.
Similarly, hypnotherapy for
anxiety helps to avoid any anxiety symptoms like a feeling of
impending doom, shortness of breath, increased heart rate, muscle tension,
irritability, nervous stomach. Using hypnotherapy for curing anxiety can be
compared to meditation as both induce the mind into a state of ‘calm &
peace’.
Not
only has hypnotherapy shown results for smoking cessation and curing anxiety
but it is also effective for patients with physical ailments like diabetes,
blood pressure, cancer, drug & alcohol addiction, etc. Dr. Geetanjali
Saxena is a renowned hypnotherapist and has been teaching it for the past 7
years. She has been certified by the California Hypnosis Institute, USA.
